spoorlijn Cadenazzo - Luino is een
Zwitserse regionale spoorlijn, dat ook
in Italië verloopt. De lijn is ongeveer
31 km lang en verloopt vanaf Cadenazzo,
dat aan de spoorlijn Giubiasco - Locarno
ligt, via Quartino en Maccagno naar
Luino. De spoorlijn, geopend in 1882, is
momenteel enkelsporig en
geëlektrificeerd. |

Geschiedenis |

| De
spoorlijn Cadenazzo - Luino werd aangelegd
(in combinatie met de lijn Giubiasco -
Locarno) als zijlijn van de Gotthardbahn (nl: Gotthardspoorlijn)
en werd ook aangelegd door de Gotthardbahn
Gesellschaft (GB) onder leiding van
Alfred Escher. De lijn Giubiasco -
Locarno werd al geopend in 1874. Tegelijk met opening
van de Gotthardspoorlijn op 1 juni 1882
werd ook de spoorlijn Cadenazzo - Luino
geopend.
In 1909 werd de GB genationaliseerd.
Vanaf dat moment werd de spoorlijn door de
SBB geëxploiteerd. Toen tussen 1916 en
1922 de Gotthardspoorlijn
geëlektrificeerd werd (met 15000V 16 2/3
Hz), werd ook deze spoorlijn
geëlektrificeerd.
Op 4 december 2004 ging de
exploitatie van de lijn naar TILO, die
vanaf diezelfde datum ook de lijn naar
Locarno exploiteert. De TILO rijdt de S3
vanaf Bellinzona naar Luino.
Momenteel wordt deze spoorlijn nog
steeds als regionale (zij-) lijn
beschouwd en wordt ook zo geëxploiteerd.
De lijn is sinds 1874 enkelsporig
gebleven. De spoorlijn Cadenazzo -
Luino bestond in mei 2007 precies 125 jaar. |
