| 11 May 2005, continuation of part 1 The afternoon
break is over and we can board the train again.
The ICE is now in service as intercity from Utrecht via Den
Bosch to Eindhoven. |
|
Picture 23:
The ICE train is ready to depart as intercity to Eindhoven.
Even here people are surprised to see an ICE train instead
of a blue-yellow NS train. |
|
| When I boarded the train I was happy to see that the other
people I was travelling with kept my seat unoccupied. This seat
was still backwards, but that didn't matter. I tried to take
pictures of this trip, but I didn't succeeded in it. On the
way many people were surprised to see the ICE passing, which
normally would not go between Utrecht and Eindhoven at all. |
|
Picture 24:
The ICE has just arrived at Eindhoven station. The train
would stay here for a little while, but everyone had to
leave the train. After this short stop the train would go
back to Utrecht, so I can now sit forwards instead of
backwards. |
|
| It took a lot of time to get my seat back. Owing to
misunderstanding we went to a different platform, but the ICE
still stayed at the arrived platform. We luckily made the trip
back, but I not yet my seat. Eventually the ICE left from
Eindhoven and went in the direction of Den Bosch, but then as
intercity via Utrecht to Amsterdam Central. |
|

During the day some people were allowed to take a look inside
the cockpit. I sat the whole day in front of a cockpit, but
could not take a look inside. The day is almost over so I had to
try to take a look myself and see how the view looks from there.
Picture 25: I tried to take a picture from the
railway line through the front window, but there are a lot
obstructions. Here we are near Hedel, between Den Bosch and
Utrecht.
|
|
Picture 26:
Here we are between Utrecht and Amsterdam. Finally the
driver allowed to have visitors. I still had to wait,
because there were other people who also wanted to take a
look. |
|
Picture 27
en picture 28: I tried to take some pictures of the line
between Utrecht and Amsterdam, because of some adjustments
to the line. It wasn't easy to do.
 |
|
Picture 29
en picture 30: The long wait came to an end. I finally could
take a look inside the cockpit/cab, ask some questions and
enjoy the view from there. A double deck train is passing
us.Were still on the line between Utrecht and Amsterdam.
Now we're near Abcoude. These pictures are still unique,
because the line doesn't look like this anymore.
Unfortunately I sat there for a little while, but I
didn't want to miss it.

Picture 31:
The arrival at Amsterdam Central is the end of the promotion
tour. The driver is packing his stuff for his next trip. The
train will later be used in a normal international service
to Cologne. Here I said goodbye to the train and the
people who I was travelling with. With one of them I
travelled back to Leiden. |
|
Picture 32
en picture 33: One last look and a few pictures (with
station). The yellow double deck train will bring me to
Leiden.
 |
|
Picture 34:
These two gentlemen were also on the train. They probably
took a picture from each other. A class 6400 locomotive is
passing them and me. |
|

Picture 35
(left): The ICE is still waiting, but now I have to go back
home. On the left side of this picture is the double deck
train to Leiden waiting to depart.
Picture 36 (below): The driver of this train let us,
me and another passenger from the ICE, take a look in his
cockpit/cab. We thought we could stay long, but that was too
good to be true.

|
Picture 37:
My day is at an end. My final train destination, Leiden
Central station, has been reached. The other passenger from
the ICE has not reached her destination yet. This is the
final picture of this wonderful day.
I only have to take a bus to reach home. |
